• Perform mechanical engineering activities and execute deliverables for GeoEngineers’ trenchless engineering projects involving HDD and complex mechanical tools and equipment • Analyze proposed trenchless crossings to determine required mechanical equipment and construction methods • Analyze pipe stresses, mechanical properties, drilling fluid pressures, formation limit pressures, and geometric constraints • Analyze mechanical soil properties from laboratory testing and recommend specialized mechanical equipment • Produce HDD plan/profile designs, engineering calculations, and equipment layouts • Prepare technical proposals, project estimates, and bid documents • Deliver daily reporting, budget tracking, and field engineering support • Oversee mechanical engineering aspects of HDD projects from pre-construction through final closeout • Develop and maintain baseline HDD project schedules, monitor daily progress, and coordinate with subcontractors and subconsultants • Serve as a technical resource for clients and project staff • Manage HDD project budgets, track expenses, identify deviations, and implement risk mitigation • Maintain project documentation, including submittals, drawings, change orders, and closeout packages • Review staff deliverables and mentor junior staff • Ensure HDD work complies with project plans, specifications, and safety guidelines • Complete mechanical engineering analyses and calculations and develop complex conceptual models • Use specialized engineering software related to mechanical engineering and HDD projects • Investigate mechanical equipment failures and recommend remedies • Travel domestically to project sites, primarily in Texas and Louisiana, up to 20% of the time
• Bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field • 6 years of experience as an Engineer, Project Manager, or a closely related engineering occupation • 6 years performing engineering on projects involving HDD • 6 years using MathCAD, ArcGIS, MODFLOW, FLAC, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, Plaxis, or closely related engineering software • A Professional Engineer (PE) license • Completion of coursework at either an undergraduate or graduate level covering Numerical Modeling or Finite Elements • Applicants must be U.S. workers • All education, training and experience may be gained concurrently
