đź“‹ Description

• Direct and oversee customs and import/export compliance across the company's global footprint • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive customs compliance program for the energy-sector supply chain • Design and continuously enhance global customs and import/export compliance strategy, policies, procedures, and internal controls • Set strategic direction for the customs function and align objectives with corporate strategy and risk appetite • Ensure compliance with customs laws and regulations in every jurisdiction where the company operates • Oversee tariff classification, customs valuation, country-of-origin determinations, FTA qualification and utilization, temporary importation, foreign trade zone, and duty drawback programs • Identify, assess, and support mitigation of customs-related risks, including trade policy, tariff, sanctions, and regulatory risks • Advise global day-to-day customs operations and manage customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third-party providers • Optimize duty spend through trade agreements, duty suspension and deferral programs, bonded warehouses, Free Trade Zones, and other lawful mechanisms • Integrate customs considerations into sourcing decisions, supply chain design, and planning for capital projects and exploration activities • Develop and deliver employee training using in-person or automated platforms such as GEV Learning • Communicate regulatory changes, customs trends, and initiatives to business segments • Champion technology, automation, and data analytics for customs compliance • Oversee global trade management software, automated customs filing systems, and compliance analytics • Support relationships with customs authorities and serve as primary contact for audits, inquiries, and investigations • Oversee trusted trader and AEO programs, including C-TPAT and EU AEO • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and develop adaptation strategies • Provide financial leadership for a global commercial pipeline, including multi-regional LTSAs and transactional sales • Partner with regional GMs and ITR leadership on competitive deal structures • Standardize the Global Commercial Toolbox and pricing frameworks • Own financial models involving multi-currency FX strategies, international tax/billing, and cross-border risk • Govern global commercial Delegation of Authority and profitability/risk thresholds • Collaborate with Global Fulfillment and Risk Finance to validate regional cost assumptions • Advise Global GMs on market positioning, competitor pricing, and geopolitical risks • Automate the As Sold vs. As Executed feedback loop • Lead and develop a diverse global team across time zones

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in customs compliance, international trade, or a closely related field • At least seven (7) years in a leadership role managing global customs operations • Fluency in English • Ability to travel internationally from 25 to 40% • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation or equivalent international certification is highly desirable • Juris Doctor (JD) or master's degree in international trade, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is desired • Experience operating in a Fortune 200 or similarly large, complex multinational organization is preferred • Prior experience in the energy, oil and gas, mining, or heavy industrial sector is highly desirable • Experience managing customs compliance programs across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific • Deep expertise in customs laws and regulations, including HS tariff classification, WTO Valuation Agreement principles, rules of origin, and preferential trade agreements • Strong understanding of export controls, economic sanctions, antiboycott regulations, and anti-corruption laws • Proven ability to build and lead large, geographically dispersed teams in a matrixed organization • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills • Outstanding written and oral communication skills for presenting to senior executives, Board members, and regulators • Proficiency with global trade management software platforms and data analytics applied to customs operations • One or more additional languages besides English is preferred • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States • Access to U.S. export-controlled information may require authorization from the U.S. Government
