• Define, design, and coordinate technical aspects of HV/EHV substation protection and control • Oversee technical plant integration and optimization at project level • Design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, industrial, and BESS applications • Develop panel and interconnect wiring, panel layouts, and elevations with local or remote design teams • Evaluate IED interoperability, control features, communications, protocols, SCADA, cybersecurity, and telecom integration • Coordinate technical development with SCADA, physical, and control design engineers • Meet project specifications, cost-control, and schedule objectives • Interface with internal and external engineering, design, project management, sourcing, and support teams • Review load-flow, fault, relay coordination, and transient studies • Train end users on integrated protection and control systems • Lead or support factory acceptance testing, site testing, and commissioning • Develop outage, cut-over, and testing procedures • Perform root cause analyses, corrective actions, and process-control validation • Support quality initiatives including ISO9002 • Develop proposals, technical specifications, design-hour and material estimates, vendor quotations, clarifications, exceptions, technical responses, and validations • Lead or serve as project engineer for small- to medium-sized projects • Continuously update technical knowledge in support of grid transition needs
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar degree from an accredited university • Minimum 7 years’ experience in engineering • Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally • Ability to comply with company travel and tax policies • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Extensive experience in protective relaying coordination and practices • Understanding of circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, harmonic filters, HVDC, and FACTS systems • Fluent in English • P.E. License or EIT with willingness to pursue and acquire P.E. certification, or P.Eng. or willingness to acquire certification • Presentation skills and ability to communicate complex messages succinctly • Experience in technical problem solving • Mastery of secondary engineering discipline, including processes, tools, and technical aspects • Ownership, accountability, judgment, decision-making, and passion for the functional role
