📋 Description

• Design and deliver complex protection solutions for generation, transmission, and distribution systems for utilities and industrial clients • Design and develop microgrid solutions, including power flow optimization and dispatching algorithms • Perform engineering studies and analyses, including short circuit, load flow, ground grid design, lightning protection, insulation coordination, arc-flash, and protective device coordination studies • Create relay setting files, including programming of protection and control elements, control logic, and communications settings for GE and third-party protective relays • Test customized protection and control solutions in-house and at customer installations • Model and conduct power system simulations using RTDS simulator or equivalent • Provide factory acceptance test plans and testing services for customer-witnessed validation of protection designs • Plan site acceptance tests and provide field support through commissioning of new applications • Assist software tool development to automate engineering processes internally and externally with utility partners • Participate in project meetings with project managers and customers on technical discussions • Report through the Grid Automation North America Operations Director as part of the regional Projects and Services execution team

🎯 Requirements

• B.S. or higher degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering specialized in power system • Seven (7) years of experience in design, study, and analysis of electric power systems • Knowledge of power system steady and transient analysis, fault study, protection theory, and symmetrical components • Willingness to represent the company and apply for permits to conduct engineering services as needed • Working experience with Mathcad, MATLAB, ASPEN, CAPE, SKM, CDEGS, WinIGS, or ETAP • Working knowledge of substation communication protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP, and Modbus • Knowledge or field experience with system commissioning and testing, including Doble / Omicron test equipment or similar • Technical skills to execute projects, identify opportunities, and write SOW proposals • Ability to estimate engineering efforts for customer proposals and projects • Proficiency in technical report writing, MS Word, and Excel • Strong communication skills including technical writing and presentations • Professional engineering accreditation is an asset, not essential • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
