• Represent Gilead's oncology products and services to a defined customer base across Greater Los Angeles through San Diego • Generate and grow sales while consistently achieving or exceeding regional sales targets • Lead the region and set a standard of excellence within the organization • Develop and maintain relationships with executives, decision influencers, and decision-makers at medical centers, clinics, and other accounts • Track and reinforce sales-force effectiveness measures, strategy adherence, tactical implementation, program planning, fund usage, and target reach and frequency • Coordinate cross-functional projects with National Accounts, Marketing, Medical Scientists, and other internal teams • Analyze, understand, and present scientific and technical information and pharmaceutical marketing and sales requirements • Share knowledge of product and disease-state developments and product protocol considerations • Counsel and coach Specialists to improve selling skills, product and disease-state knowledge, customer focus, time management, and resource allocation • Recruit, hire, and manage a team of Specialists • Create learning plans, recommend training and development solutions, and provide mentoring and coaching • Act as communication liaison between the home office and region, identifying and resolving issues, opportunities, and competitive activities • Define roles, responsibilities, and measurable outcomes; measure success and provide performance feedback • Represent the company at professional events and promote company products • Analyze industry trends, competitor resources, and practices • Lead cross-functional projects with broad organizational impact • Communicate business direction and vision to the region • Provide guidance on human resource management issues and complex people-management matters • Manage large projects and work within cross-functional teams • Represent Gilead's products through in-person and face-to-face meetings with healthcare practitioners • Ensure department personnel comply with commercial compliance policies and applicable laws and guidance
• High School Degree and sixteen years' experience OR Associate's Degree and fourteen years' experience OR Bachelor's Degree and twelve years' experience OR Master's Degree and ten years' experience OR Ph.D. and eight years' experience • Preferred: 12 years of relevant commercial experience in marketing, sales, or a related commercial function • Preferred: 8 years of progressive oncology experience • Preferred: 4 years of oncology leadership as a District Manager, including product launches • Exceptional leadership skills, including setting a vision, leading change, and coaching and mentoring others • Ability to formulate, develop, and execute strategy and manage teams with varying product prioritization • Demonstrated excellence in project management and managing multiple priorities • Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict-resolution, consensus-building, influencing, and negotiating skills • Executive presence and sound business judgment • Ability to engage in required travel, including regular travel within the assigned area • Ability to satisfy onsite visitation requirements of healthcare practitioners, which may include vaccinations, drug and background screenings, and other requirements • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily • Valid driver's license required • Knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing and sales regulations, guidelines, and policies • Understanding of the medical field and pharmaceutical industry • Experience managing successful product launches and/or product turnarounds • Ability to manage large projects and work cross-functionally
