📋 Description

• Lead engineering for highly complex applications and deliver high-quality, maintainable software • Own engineering culture and champion sensible defaults enabling continuous delivery • Lead knowledge-sharing sessions on current technologies and engineering practices • Maintain production software and triage and resolve issues • Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and participate in pair programming • Advocate for and implement component reusability, modularity, separation of concerns, and performance optimization • Drive complex technical initiatives with Architects • Partner with IT Management to design and deliver technology solutions • Improve CI/CD pipelines, test strategies, and build automation • Shape user experiences and build scalable, high-performance customer order notification applications • Partner with Product Managers, Architecture, and cross-functional stakeholders to modernize Grainger's digital experience

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in computer science or similar; or equivalent experience required • 5+ years experience as a Software Engineer • Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable software applications across varied technologies and environments • Expert programming knowledge in JVM, Kotlin, TypeScript, React, or similar languages • Strong backend focus with working knowledge of frontend development • Demonstrated knowledge of distributed system design and integration patterns, including Kafka • Understanding of event-driven data streaming architectures • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices • Experience analyzing, interpreting, and communicating complex problems and practices • Demonstrated success leading the evolution of monoliths to microservices and shaping cross-team technical strategies • Familiarity with backend-for-frontend (BFF) concepts or partnering with Node.js backend APIs preferred
