📋 Description

• Drive improvement across the claims function through process and technology • Manage adjusters and claims toward resolution • Report to key business stakeholders • Coordinate cross-functionally with Risk, Business Operations, and Legal on triage, tracking, monitoring, and communication of contingent liability matters • Supervise and develop claims team members and support growth opportunities • Support Greystar insurable claim activities • Manage relationships with the business, vendors, property claim adjusters, broker claim representatives, and third-party administrators • Identify and help implement internal and external processes to streamline claims handling • Oversee contingent claims matters and track them from intake to resolution • Draft release agreements and resident advisory letters • Respond to due diligence requests for disclosure of claims/litigated matters • Report claims team performance through KPIs, identify trends, and communicate findings • Participate in and support management-level claims discussions and updates • Coordinate internal and external stakeholder communication for timely claims processing, handoff, and resolution

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Insurance, Business Administration, or related field is strongly preferred • Proven experience in a leadership role within the real estate industry is strongly preferred • 8+ years of progressive experience in claims management, risk management, or insurance, with exposure to multi-site or portfolio-based operations • 3+ years of experience supervising or managing a claims team • Demonstrated experience overseeing general liability, environmental and property claims across a large portfolio of locations • Experience managing relationships with third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance brokers, outside counsel, and property claim adjusters • Experience tracking and managing contingent liability and litigated matters in coordination with Legal and Risk Management • Strong knowledge of insurance principles and coverage lines (general liability, environmental, umbrella/excess) • Familiarity with resident-related liability issues common to multifamily/property management • Proficiency with claims management systems (e.g., Origami, RiskConsole, Ventiv) and reporting/analytics tools • Understanding of release agreements, resident advisory communications, and basic settlement/legal terminology • Ability to analyze claims data, identify trends, calculate KPIs (loss ratios, frequency/severity), and translate findings into actionable recommendations • Strong leadership skills with a track record of coaching and developing team members • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting resident-facing correspondence and presenting updates to management • Skilled at building and maintaining vendor relationships and holding vendors accountable to service standards • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of claims and competing deadlines • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential matters • Comfortable operating cross-functionally with Legal, Risk Management, and Operations teams • Process-improvement oriented, with experience streamlining claims workflows through technology or procedural changes
