📋 Description

• Build automation architecture and standards adopted by other teams • Design frameworks, fixtures, and shared patterns for reliable parallel execution, accounting for concurrency, asynchronous behavior, and eventual consistency • Set testing practices engineers follow and drive adoption through usefulness and influence • Own quality strategy across teams • Define verification strategies based on system risk and determine required evidence at each layer • Direct exploratory testing toward unfamiliar failure modes • Document what is deliberately not tested and why • Own test execution speed, gating, failure classification, and flake discipline • Enable developers to self-resolve test failures • Define synthetic-data strategy, isolation patterns, and CI protections preventing PHI from entering non-production • Define environment, observability, and data needs with Platform • Set performance, resilience, accessibility, and security verification depth • Author versioned, reviewable AI-agent conventions • Set boundaries for agent actions without human review • Maintain human judgment over generated tests and evidence • Set technical direction across teams, influencing roadmap, tooling, and Engineering tradeoffs • Mentor engineers in adopted testing standards

🎯 Requirements

• Strong in a modern programming language • Ability to reason about concurrency, asynchronous workflows, and failure propagation across services • Ability to trace failing tests across services using logs, traces, and deployment context • Ability to identify whether root causes are product, automation, data, or environment issues • Ability to communicate residual risk clearly to Engineering and Product • Real depth in at least one non-functional area: performance, resilience, security, or accessibility • Already works AI-first and has established conventions followed by other engineers • Has built a testing framework or shared automation platform adopted by multiple engineers or teams • Has defined testing standards and best practices, including test-layer guidance, flake policy, and gating criteria • Has designed or evolved a quality system across teams • Has translated product and architectural risk into a verification strategy • Has set technical direction beyond their own team and influenced roadmap, tooling, and tradeoffs across Engineering • Experience mentoring other engineers into established standards • Bonus: experience verifying LLM-backed or other non-deterministic products • Bonus: synthetic-data strategy and deterministic isolation for sensitive data • Bonus: failure injection or recovery testing in production-like environments • Bonus: experience working in healthcare, another regulated domain, or systems handling sensitive customer data
