📋 Description

• Support the CDI Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations for Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists and CDI team leads • Ensure consistent program coverage, effective team performance, and alignment with contractual expectations and CDI best-practice standards • Manage daily CDI assignments and make staffing adjustments to support adequate coverage • Monitor productivity, utilization, compliance, key performance indicators, and monthly quality audits • Ensure the CDI team has tools, resources, and guidance for concurrent record reviews and provider queries • Collaborate with facility CDI teams, client stakeholders, and internal leadership • Provide expert oversight and leadership for CDI team operations • Assess health system opportunities related to contractual requirements, CDI best-practice metrics, and program performance • Develop and implement processes and initiatives to improve clinical documentation performance • Coordinate priorities, track progress, and support execution of CDI initiatives • Communicate and collaborate with medical staff, clinical departments, and facility leadership • Drive use of CDI technology tools, dashboards, and reporting capabilities • Ensure accountability for KPIs and quality expectations • Provide daily program oversight covering productivity, quality, education, training, auditing, reporting, performance improvement, and standardization • Support accurate documentation, coded data integrity, reporting, provider profiling, and acuity capture • Support CDI technology implementation, optimization, data entry, reporting, and tracking • Communicate program updates, risks, and needs to the CDI Manager and/or Director • Assist with interviews, onboarding, and training • Conduct quarterly check-ins and year-end performance evaluations • Approve timesheets and monitor project utilization tracking • Provide status updates to operations leadership, the CDI Manager and/or Director, and facility department leaders • Facilitate meetings, discussions, and work sessions • Identify and communicate project obstacles, risks, and issues and collaborate on solutions • Identify technology interface or reporting issues, submit vendor service tickets, and coordinate resolution with vendor, facility IT, and internal IT teams

🎯 Requirements

• Must hold at least one of: RHIA, RHIT, RN, MD, or MD-equivalent clinical credentials • Must maintain required credentials and certifications throughout employment • Minimum 5 years of acute care hospital CDI experience • Minimum 2 years of prior management or supervisory experience • Familiarity with encoder use and DRG assignment, including MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies • CCDS or CDIP certification is nice to have • Strong clinical understanding of disease processes • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and disease processes • Knowledge of Coding Clinic Guidelines and federal updates to MS-DRG and APR-DRG systems • Excellent communication skills • Ability to engage physicians professionally in complex or sensitive documentation discussions • Ability to conduct presentations for facility physicians and leadership • Ability to maintain a HIPAA-compliant remote workstation or office environment • Ability to work in a remote, professional office setting using virtual communication and collaboration tools
