• Work as an embedded member of HARMAN's Software Experiences Business Unit product team • Join standups, design and product marketing discussions, and product reviews • Conduct competitive and user research across music discovery, streaming, and short-form content • Track and analyze competitors and adjacent products to identify feature gaps, trends, and unmet needs • Maintain a weekly competitive tracker covering feature releases, launches, and competitor positioning • Recruit and interview users aged 16 to 25 • Support usability and concept testing for features and prototypes • Capture qualitative and quantitative feedback and turn it into sprint-ready recommendations • Investigate audience responses to curation and algorithmic recommendations • Study visual and interaction trends across music, social, and related apps • Monitor Reddit, Discord, TikTok comments, and app store reviews for relevant themes • Support user feedback programs by drafting survey questions, tracking feedback and bug reports, and logging recurring themes • Organize interview notes, clips, and findings in the research repository • Summarize findings in short internal documents and deliver a final write-up and presentation • Own a self-directed product research project and present recommendations
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program or higher at an accredited institution • Completed Sophomore year or later • Taking at least one class in the semester/quarter before participation • Returning to school for at least one semester after the internship • Cumulative 3.0 GPA • Genuine curiosity about consumer products and music discovery, sharing, and discussion • Strong written communication skills • Comfortable conducting interviews and asking follow-up questions • Organized and self-directed; able to manage multiple research threads with light supervision in a remote environment • Comfortable working with survey results and simple data sets • Hands-on familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, Discord, Reddit, and major streaming services • Discretion with confidential product, partner, and roadmap information • Successfully complete a post-offer background investigation and drug screen • Preferred degree program in business, marketing, design, human-computer interaction, communications, music business, or a related field • Bonus: Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in user research, product management, marketing, or design • Bonus: Exposure to interviews, surveys, or usability testing • Bonus: Experience building an audience, creating social content, or moderating an online community • Bonus: Working knowledge of Figma, Notion, and survey or analytics platforms • Bonus: Fluency with AI tools • Bonus: Personal involvement in music as a musician, DJ, playlist curator, writer, or active scene participant
