📋 Description

• Use AI development tools personally and daily and maintain practical knowledge of their capabilities and limitations. • Research and experiment with AI tooling, models, and workflows and standardize successful approaches. • Lead development teams toward agentic, human-on-the-loop delivery with governance, review gates, validation, security review, and outcome reporting. • Own the AI delivery-maturity roadmap across supported products. • Make codebases and delivery pipelines accessible to AI agents through documentation, test coverage, CI/CD, and structured context. • Build AI tooling and training programs for engineers. • Report AI delivery maturity and business outcomes to executives. • Set the multi-year technical roadmap for Corrections and Law Enforcement product lines. • Own technology standards, architectural direction, and technical documentation across the portfolio. • Evaluate build, buy, and consolidation options and provide recommendations to the Executive Vice President. • Own release commitments, reporting cadence, dependencies, resource contention, and executive escalations. • Standardize development processes, tooling, and engineering metrics across portfolio companies. • Set and enforce quality, testing, defect, release-readiness, security, regulatory, and contractual standards. • Partner with Support Services to connect customer issues with engineering priorities. • Lead, mentor, recruit, retain, and develop engineering managers, directors, and technical talent. • Structure onshore, offshore, and contract capacity. • Own the R&D budget, headcount planning, capitalization, AI tooling spend, and vendor commitments. • Contribute to forecasts and executive reporting and improve development cost as a percentage of revenue. • Lead platform migration, modernization, and technical-debt retirement programs. • Act as liaison between R&D and Operations, Support, Product Management, Sales, and Finance. • Present roadmap, AI maturity, risk, and investment recommendations to executives. • Engage customers, partners, and user groups to validate product direction. • Support acquisition due diligence and technical integration.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. • Ten or more years in software development. • At least three years leading engineering organizations at director level or above. • Demonstrated hands-on use of AI development tools in daily work. • Experience advancing an engineering organization from individual AI assistance to agentic, human-on-the-loop delivery, including governance and validation. • Strong understanding of software architecture, cloud technologies, modern development methodologies, and enterprise software delivery. • Record of translating AI capability into customer-facing value and revenue. • Proven ownership of a multi-product or multi-company development portfolio, including budget accountability. • Experience delivering enterprise software to public sector, public safety, or other regulated markets is strongly preferred. • Track record modernizing legacy platforms while continuing to support an installed customer base. • Working command of modern architecture, cloud delivery, and secure development practice, including security review of AI-generated code. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
