📋 Description

• Own Hello Heart’s legal and regulatory strategy for data use • Lead negotiations concerning data collection, use, sharing, retention, reuse, AI applications, ownership, and related rights • Operate the Privacy Program, including HIPAA and state privacy requirements, notices and consents, consumer rights, incidents, breach determinations, notifications, and regulatory inquiries • Operate and administer the AI governance program, including AI laws, governance committees, policies, procedures, inventories, risk assessments, controls, records, and regulatory change management • Interpret and implement data governance requirements into policies, controls, procedures, and implementation plans • Build and maintain data maps, processing records, classification standards, contractual obligation repositories, compliance evidence, retention/disposal controls, and vendor reviews • Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, AI, Commercial, and User Support teams on privacy, data, and AI requirements • Lead privacy, data, and AI risk, incident response, breach analysis, notifications, corrective actions, and remediation • Lead compliance monitoring, audits, client audits, regulatory inquiries, investigations, certifications, attestations, and assurance requests • Build policies, playbooks, training, and executive reporting

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of legal experience with substantial healthcare regulatory, privacy, and compliance experience in a HIPAA-regulated organization; healthcare experience required • Significant experience negotiating complex data rights with sophisticated enterprise clients and partners • Experience operating healthcare privacy and compliance programs, including regulatory interpretation, incident and breach response, risk assessment, monitoring, auditing, corrective actions, and remediation • Strong compliance judgment and owner-operator mindset • Advanced AI fluency and automation capability, including building and using AI agents • Experience with AI governance, including emerging AI laws, risk assessments, approval workflows, inventories, responsible AI controls, and monitoring • Exceptional judgment, executive presence, and communication skills • Active license to practice law and membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar • Nice to have: international privacy and data protection experience, privacy or AI governance certifications, growth-stage privacy or AI governance program experience, and client trust/security assurance experience
