📋 Description

• Lead state advocacy and government engagement efforts across Kentucky and West Virginia • Develop, coordinate, and maintain corporate relationships with Louisville Metro Government • Support corporate engagement with local community organizations • Serve as a trusted partner to state officials, including Governor’s offices, Medicaid agencies, legislators, and regulators • Advance Humana’s legislative, regulatory, and public sector business priorities • Partner with internal leaders to align advocacy strategies with market growth and operational goals • Support Medicaid market operations and assist with state and local procurement opportunities and contract pursuits • Monitor and influence policy developments to mitigate risk and create opportunity • Manage external consultants, state trade association memberships, and advocacy partners • Deliver timely policy insights to internal stakeholders • Represent Humana in state, regional, and national forums • Report to the AVP of State Affairs

🎯 Requirements

• Must reside in Kentucky; strong preference for candidates located in Louisville, Kentucky • 8+ years of professional experience in state government, government affairs, campaigns, health policy, and/or advocacy roles • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as public policy, communications, health policy, political science, or business • Demonstrated success developing and executing state-level advocacy strategies • Track record of achieving short- and long-term policy or business objectives • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines • Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory processes • Understanding of how state political and public policy environments impact business outcomes • Ability to operate effectively within a highly matrixed, fast-paced organization • Knowledge of Medicaid programs; familiarity with Kentucky Medicaid strongly preferred • Ability to travel 25% to the State Capitol and market/ Humana offices for meetings • Home internet with minimum 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed • Ability to work from a dedicated space without ongoing interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA information
