📋 Description

• Document and communicate requirements for data engineers • Write Scala code for the Claims Cost Measures Team • Utilize and write Python scripts for ETL and data analysis • Perform data validation and use SQL for data queries • Improve data quality checks • Update and enhance data documentation • Communicate with external partners about requirements • Script and analyze data consistently • Use Jira and Confluence consistently • Attend Scrum ceremonies and test meetings • Work East Coast hours with core hours and meetings potentially starting at 9:00 AM Eastern Time • Support the Clinical Interface and Scoring portion of CMS’s Quality Payment Program

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred in Computer Science, IT or a related field) • 5+ years of experience in software or data development • 3+ years of on-the-job coding skills in Scala or similar languages • 3+ years working in a data engineering role • 2+ years of experience with any SQL dialect • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust • Must reside in the U.S. and be authorized to work in the U.S.; all work must be performed in the U.S. • Must have lived in the U.S. for three full years out of the last five years • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently • Ability to take ownership of analyses from requirements clarification to deliverables • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills • Ability to understand and articulate the big picture and simplify complex ideas • Ability to identify and learn new techniques independently • Preferred: experience with Medicare/Medicaid claims data and claims codes (HCPCS/CPT/ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS) • Preferred: Spark/PySpark/SparkR experience • Preferred: advanced SQL querying and database management knowledge • Preferred: Git/GitHub experience • Preferred: agile environment experience • Preferred: Confluence and Jira experience • Preferred: Scaled Agile Framework project experience • Preferred: software development team experience building modern software products
