📋 Description

• Develop data and models and apply advanced optimization approaches for capacity expansion, production cost, and integrated resource planning • Deliver client work through modeling, presentations, writing, report and paper subsections, and additional customer requests • Design and lead co-optimization across generation, transmission, distribution, demand-side resources, and fuels under uncertainty • Design and implement techno-economic frameworks evaluating system reliability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness • Research electricity markets, power system reliability, optimization techniques, market design, policy implications, and emerging technologies • Propose novel ideas and concepts for next-generation power systems • Translate quantitative simulation and research results into clear visual representations and actionable insights • Collaborate with cross-functional teams serving utilities, ISOs, and large energy consumers • Assist with proposal writing and innovative client-solution strategies • Serve as a technical client contact, lead deep-dive discussions, present analytical findings, and contribute to external thought leadership • Support client satisfaction and retention with project and account leads

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree in operations research, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Applied/Quantitative Economics, or related field, plus 3+ years of energy-related experience • Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant professional experience in lieu of an advanced degree, demonstrated by 6+ years of energy-related experience • Expertise in optimization theory, techno-economic analysis, and power system planning • Hands-on experience with capacity expansion and production cost tools such as PLEXOS, IPM, Encompass, or GenX • Strong programming and modeling skills in Python, Julia, and GAMS • Proficiency with commercial solvers including CPLEX, Gurobi, and Xpress-MP • Ability to manage large datasets and perform stochastic or scenario-based analysis • Detailed-oriented approach to model design and critical assessment of results • Exceptional communication skills for presenting technical findings to diverse audiences • Knowledge of security-constrained economic dispatch and power system fundamentals • Familiarity with econometrics, market economics, and regulatory processes • Experience in academic writing, stakeholder engagement, or policy analysis • Experience with energy transition, co-optimization issues, or advanced academic project work • High fluency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint • Demonstrated ability to use AI and bring creative technology solutions to work
