📋 Description

• Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures relative to the patient's healthcare encounter • Abstract appropriate information from medical records based on client-provided guidelines • Solicit clarification from physicians regarding ambiguous or conflicting documentation • Use established coding principles, software, and medical-record knowledge to assign diagnostic and procedural codes • Provide coding and abstracting services for inpatient, outpatient, and clinic visits for professional fee medical records • Participate in industry forums • Support coding education within the team • Mentor training coders and/or new hires through education and training • Maintain current knowledge of the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting • Maintain effective and professional communication • Contribute to a positive company image through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect

🎯 Requirements

• CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT or RHIA certification • Strong skills in both Orthopedic Profee and Facility coding • 3+ years of experience coding both Profee and Facility orthopedic charts • Experience coding Clinic E&M, Diagnosis, and CPTs • Profee and facility Neurology coding experience • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines • Knowledge of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, and billing • Must pass a coding proficiency test • Preferred: 3 years of experience using EPIC with 3M 360
