📋 Description

• Provide coding and abstracting services for physician and facility medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems • Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures • Select principal and other diagnoses and procedures using UHDDS definitions • Ensure appropriate DRG assignment • Abstract information from medical records according to client guidelines • Meet productivity and quality performance requirements • Enter coded charts in real time during scheduled shifts • Query physicians regarding ambiguous or conflicting documentation • Participate in team meetings, required training, and education modules • Support training or shadowing of other coders when requested • Work flexibly across multiple clients to meet classification-hour requirements • Participate in Coding Roundtables through presentations on coding and Health Information Management topics • Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting • Keep coding credentials active and up to date • Maintain professional communication and contribute to a positive company image

🎯 Requirements

• CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA credential required • Minimum 3 years of related coding experience • Experience coding both professional-fee (PB) and facility (HB) ophthalmology charts • Ability to code clinic E&M, diagnosis codes, and CPTs • Epic with 3M 360 experience required • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes • Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding principles and guidelines • Knowledge of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies • Must pass a coding proficiency test • Strong verbal and written communication skills • High coding accuracy and attention to detail • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Must keep coding credentials current and active • Ability to work remotely with prolonged computer-based work and sitting
