📋 Description

• Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures relative to the patient's healthcare encounter • Assign Evaluation & Management (E/M) levels for emergency room facility and professional encounters • Assign principal and secondary CPT codes and associated charges for emergency room procedures and injections/infusions • Assign appropriate modifiers to CPT codes based on hospital, payer, or state guidelines • Abstract appropriate information from medical records according to client guidelines • Solicit physician clarification regarding ambiguous or conflicting documentation • Participate in Coding Roundtables by presenting materials, articles, and current coding and Health Information Management issues • Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting • Maintain effective and professional communication skills • Contribute to a positive company image through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect

🎯 Requirements

• CPC or COC coding credentials • 3 plus years of experience coding Facility and Profee charts: Outpatient (Ancillary, Clinic, and ED) • Experience coding Ancillary: ICD & CPT; Clinic: ICD, CPT, E&Ms; ED: ICD, CPT, E&Ms, I&Is • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes • Extensive knowledge of CPT coding principles and guidelines • Knowledge of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, and billing • Passing score on the coding proficiency tests required
