📋 Description

• Review and verify patient insurance, eligibility, and benefits specific to Advanced Wound Care and Negative Pressure Wound Therapy • Use the Medicare portal to verify hospital or skilled nursing status • Initiate, follow up on, and secure authorizations from third-party payers for wound-care-related HCPCS codes • Track pending authorizations within management-designated timeframes • Process authorizations through payer portals, fax, or telephone • Secure retrospective authorizations and single case agreements for out-of-network patients • Obtain authorization renewals and verify active physician written orders and certification of medical necessity • Collaborate with the NPWT Customer Care team to obtain supporting documentation • Verify authorization quantities and effective dates and load them correctly into systems • Organize work to avoid revenue loss due to filing limitations • Enter correct Payer Plan ID numbers and data into appropriate systems for accurate billing • Determine insurance liability, coordination of benefits, and patient financial responsibility • Perform other duties as assigned • No supervisory responsibilities

🎯 Requirements

• Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience • Familiar with insurance payers and medical benefits • Minimum of two years’ experience in a healthcare setting • Organizational skills • Medical terminology • Good troubleshooting skills • Ability to work as a team • Ability to independently meet tight deadlines in a project-based atmosphere • Follows department processes and procedures • Highly motivated and detail-oriented • Experience with Electronic Medical Record Systems • Intermediate problem solving • Intermediate troubleshooting
