• Deliver planned volume and pricing for a specific customer base • Maintain existing customer relationships and maximize customer-base profitability • Develop and manage new business opportunities by selling high value-added ingredients • Organize sales territory and customer account coverage • Make scheduled sales contacts and cultivate relationships with customer buying influences • Independently manage time, territory, account management, and decision-making • Identify business opportunities and factors affecting customers and markets • Identify and contact customer targets in the assigned territory • Coordinate technical, marketing, and other company resources throughout the sales cycle • Close customer transactions efficiently and professionally • Construct and present firm-priced or grain-related contracts using corn market factors • Support strategic business plans and adjust tactical sales plans to market conditions • Support National Account Managers with coverage and information • Establish inter-departmental communication and relationships • Coordinate with Customer Service, Operations, credit, demand planning, and sales teams • Analyze complex business situations and direct successful solutions • Develop and maintain customer, regional market, and prospect information systems • Disseminate customer and market information through spreadsheets and word-processing documents • Negotiate annual customer contracts and manage their development, accuracy, and delivery • Coordinate customer and company needs to maximize sales and profitability • Manage sales and business activities for key regional multi-plant accounts outside the assigned territory • Monitor competitors, market trends, pricing, technical requirements, product development applications, and market direction • Communicate market and forecasting information to management and sales team members
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science, or equivalent work-related experience in an industrial environment • Superior knowledge of the corrugating industry, including competitors, products, and markets • Knowledge of the corrugating/packaging industry is an asset • Ability to manage day-to-day activity of National Account locations where contracts were negotiated outside the assigned territory • Ability to independently manage time and territory • Ability to take a macro approach to sales using global resources • Ability to coordinate multiple complex activities/projects simultaneously and close sales • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency in disseminating information accurately and timely • Knowledge and use of PCs • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing tools • Willingness to travel up to 50%
