• Lead casualty underwriting strategy, governance, and portfolio management to achieve profitability, growth, and risk appetite objectives • Oversee portfolio performance across Construction Casualty, E&S Casualty, Auto, Commercial General Liability, Umbrella, and Workers Compensation • Monitor rate adequacy, attachment points, limits deployment, aggregation management, and severity trends • Establish and maintain underwriting guidelines, referral standards, authority frameworks, and exception governance with segment leaders • Provide technical direction on complex casualty risks, coverage structures, and emerging exposures • Collaborate with Actuarial, Product, Reinsurance, Claims, Legal, Compliance, and Global Risk Management • Monitor industry, legal, regulatory, and market developments and recommend underwriting actions • Direct audits, quality reviews, referral management, and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements • Promote consistency in underwriting practices with domestic and international underwriting partners • Lead, develop, and mentor the corporate underwriting team • Communicate strategic priorities and performance expectations • Support underwriting operations across the U.S. and collaborate with stakeholders in Canada, the UK, and Europe on U.S.-written risks
• Bachelor's degree required • CPCU, ARM, MBA, JD, or other relevant professional designations preferred • Minimum 10 years of casualty underwriting experience, including significant experience in General Casualty, Construction Casualty and/or E&S Casualty • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing and developing underwriting professionals • Strong knowledge of casualty coverage, pricing, portfolio management, and broker distribution • Ability to lead underwriting strategy, governance, and portfolio oversight • Knowledge of underwriting guidelines, referral standards, authority frameworks, and exception governance • Experience with complex casualty risks, coverage structures, and emerging exposures • Knowledge of industry, legal, regulatory, and market developments • Ability to collaborate with actuarial, product, reinsurance, claims, legal, compliance, and risk management functions
