📋 Description

• Analyze relevant clinical and demographic information from Health Information records • Assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes in compliance with CMS, state, and other regulatory agencies • Assign hospital DRGs and analyze documentation for severity of illness and risk of mortality reporting • Provide mentorship and training to onboarding coders • Analyze documentation, abstract records, and assign codes according to ICD-10, CPT4/HCPCS, ASC, UHDDS, HCFA, state, federal, and hospital guidelines • Perform queries and obtain required documentation from other departments • Coordinate documentation needs, query follow-up, and final DRG assignment with the Clinical Documentation Specialist • Review ambulatory provider documentation for coding appropriateness and complete accurate code selection • Communicate documentation issues to management and providers • Assign diagnosis and procedure codes for clinic visits, surgical procedures/deliveries, and other billable professional services • Mentor team members on coding and documentation inquiries • Maintain focus on appropriate HCC queries, education, diagnosis documentation, and capture

🎯 Requirements

• One of the following required qualifications: CCS certification and two years of coding experience; CPC certification and two years of coding experience; CRC certification and two years of HCC coding experience; RHIT certification; or RHIA certification • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, coding and coding applications • Knowledge of Windows, Excel, healthcare information systems, and encoders • Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing
