📋 Description

• Lead Internet2’s NET+ emerging technology portfolio and set strategic direction • Manage day-to-day execution across artificial intelligence, advanced wireless, and quantum-enabled services • Recommend where NET+ should invest, wait, or exit based on market evaluation • Own two to four active NET+ service offerings • Manage vendor relationships, business models, pricing, contract negotiation and renewal, service health, and sustainability • Build strategic partnerships with industry leaders and recruit new providers • Translate emerging technology capabilities into funded programs for higher education and research • Support communities of practice such as Advanced Wireless and AI • Develop reference architectures, best practice guides, and implementation playbooks • Represent NET+ in multi-institutional working groups, industry forums, and higher education forums • Supervise, coach, and evaluate the program development team, including hiring and professional development • Participate in the Vice President’s management team • Align emerging technology initiatives with Internet2 priorities • Partner with marketing and communications, community programs, and other business units

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise technology platforms, cloud strategy, or emerging technology programs • Experience evaluating emerging technologies, assessing market opportunities, and developing strategic recommendations • Depth in enterprise platforms, cloud, or emerging technology • Experience negotiating, co-developing, or managing industry partnerships and multi-institutional technology programs, including commercial terms, business models, and contracts • Ability to manage concurrent commitments, establish priorities, resolve issues, and deliver results with minimal guidance • Ability to lead through influence and build consensus across matrixed, multi-stakeholder environments • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and executive analyses and presentations • Exceptional written and verbal skill translating dense technical concepts into clear resources • Experience hiring, supervising, coaching, and evaluating professional staff, or comparable experience leading professional teams • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time • Preferred: experience with agentic AI, AI security, foundation models, private 5G, AI-RAN, Open RAN, neutral host, LEO satellite connectivity, quantum computing services, or secure research enablement • Preferred: working knowledge of quantum networking, post-quantum cryptography, and eduroam/OpenRoaming integration • Preferred: knowledge of higher education technology procurement requirements, including accessibility, data protection, and HECVAT • Preferred: experience in higher education or research IT leadership • Preferred: familiarity with NET+, InCommon, community-governed service programs, shared evaluation, and cooperative purchasing models • Preferred: experience producing reference architectures, evaluation frameworks, implementation playbooks, or practitioner-focused guidance • Preferred: experience originating and closing industry-funded revenue through sponsorships, co-investment, or revenue-sharing agreements
