📋 Description

• Own system design end to end, including problem statement, architecture, interfaces, data model, rollout, and components built by other engineers • Coach and develop engineers through teaching-oriented reviews, pairing, and stretching assignments • Own API contracts between systems and teams, including guarantees, versioning, and migrations • Set and document technical direction so other teams can build against it independently • Break large, ambiguous problems into sequenced, estimable, deliverable work • Lead delivery across team boundaries, including coordination and follow-up • Write and review code and carry the pager for owned systems • Own monitoring, on-call, incident response, and recurrence-prevention follow-up • Serve as the company’s domain expert and share knowledge with others • Improve CI/CD, observability, testing practices, and documentation

🎯 Requirements

• 6 or more years of professional software engineering experience, including several years operating in production what you built • Record of owning system-level design rather than components alone • Deep experience with distributed systems, including personally debugging failure modes • Demonstrated coaching and evidence of engineers who grew through your support • Experience owning APIs that other teams depend on, including versioning and breaking-change migrations • Excellent communication, particularly in writing • Depth in at least one relevant domain: data engineering, automation, developer tooling, AI enablement, or product engineering • Experience leading delivery across more than one team without formal authority • Strong fundamentals and judgment • Experience as a formal tech lead or in a staff-level role (nice to have) • Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and infrastructure as code, including AWS, Azure, or GCP, Kubernetes, and Terraform (nice to have) • Experience with high-volume data pipelines, streaming systems, or telemetry and time-series data (nice to have) • Experience putting machine learning or LLM systems into production (nice to have) • Experience working close to physical infrastructure and hardware failure (nice to have) • Authorization to work in the United States
