📋 Description

• Review transcribed reports daily for completeness and correctness • Correct or fill in blanks as necessary • Push reports to Scanning for indexing to patients’ EMRs • Periodically review providers’ transcribed reports against actual dictation • Apply industry-specific standards from current resources and references • Select randomly transcribed or edited reports for review through a standard random selection process • Provide timely, consistent feedback to the lead and/or manager • Help eliminate recurring errors, build skills, and mentor medical transcriptionists/editors • Recognize, interpret, and evaluate inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in medical dictation • Correct, clarify, and/or report dictation issues as required • Support quality documentation and provide input on procedures, training, and resources • Establish policies and procedures that improve transcription department efficiency

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required • Medical terminology required • One year of previous experience as a transcriptionist in the medical field required • Medical Transcription Certification preferred but not required • Medical transcription education or qualifying degree/experience preferred • Orthopedic experience preferred • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease process, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values • In-depth knowledge of medical transcription guidelines, including The AAMT Book of Style for Medical Transcription, and transcription practices • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, and style • Excellent acoustical skills • Understanding of medico-legal implications and risk management responsibilities of healthcare records • Ability to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations • Ability to understand diverse accents, dialects, and varying dictation styles • Proficiency in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking, and monitoring • Ability to multitask with multiple priorities and time frames • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision • Ability to operate computers, multiple software applications, transcription equipment, and other necessary equipment • Ability to accept voice/text files in multiple formats and use word-processing software • Organizational skills for file management • Mathematical skills, including calculations and statistics • Candidates receiving a conditional offer must complete a criminal background check, education verification, reference checks, and an initial TB test
