📋 Description

• Lead strategic identification of emerging, time-sensitive oncology topics and evaluate their relevance for news and cancer.org content • Write, edit, and refine cancer news and information for public audiences • Develop innovative content and storytelling approaches to strengthen ACS visibility and engage audiences • Conduct interviews with clinicians, researchers, and other subject matter experts • Collaborate with medical editors, SEO team, and editorial staff on editorial strategy, style consistency, content gaps, and user search behavior • Advise leadership on content opportunities and priorities • Support accurate, relevant, and timely medical content creation to protect organizational reputation, ensure compliance, and reduce risk • Periodically travel for team meetings, strategic partner collaboration, conferences, or training

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, or other related field required • Medical Writer Certified credential or equivalent • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of medical journalism, health communications, medical writing, or related experience • Expertise in reporting, writing, and editing medical and scientific content • Ability to identify emerging trends, evaluate scientific developments, and recommend high-impact content opportunities independently • Ability to evaluate scientific literature, research findings, and clinical evidence for public audiences • Exceptional storytelling skills across multiple formats • Knowledge of health literacy best practices • Proficiency with Windows operating system and Office suite software • Proficiency with Web Content Management Systems, preferably AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) • Familiarity with SEO, user experience, and accessibility best practices • Understanding of basic HTML and general web development concepts • Familiarity with project management and collaboration software, preferably Monday • Excellent collaboration, consultative, relationship-building, communication, time management, organizational, prioritization, and decision-making skills • Ability to build credibility with clinicians, researchers, and subject matter experts
