📋 Description

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate them into compliant, clear policy wording • Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections on forms • Advocate for Kin’s position on form wording with regulators, including during forms-related audits and market conduct exams • Advise Claims, Product, Customer Experience, and other internal partners on coverage interpretation and form wording • Draft complete new-state and product forms packages, including base policies, endorsements, state amendatory endorsements, and required notices, ready for filing • Perform first-pass legal review of Forms team drafts and escalate novel state-law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel • Build and maintain countrywide base forms and reusable state kits for the assigned line of business • Establish drafting standards and reusable language • Design and deliver internal training on policy forms, coverage interpretation, and state regulatory expectations • Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business • Identify legal risks in proposed product designs or coverage changes • Review AI-assisted drafts and research for legal accuracy and regulatory compliance • Establish guardrails for use of AI tools • Maintain and update forms packages in response to statutes, regulations, DOI bulletins, product enhancements, and coverage changes • Deliver multiple complete state and product forms packages for filing • Serve as subject matter expert on Kin’s policy forms • Provide coverage interpretation guidance to internal partners

🎯 Requirements

• A Juris Doctor (JD) degree • 5+ years of policy form drafting experience, or a combination of policy form drafting and coverage interpretation, such as claims litigation or coverage counsel experience • Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states • Experience reading state insurance statutes and regulations directly and converting requirements into policy language • Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings • Experience advising business stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording • Track record of drafting complete forms packages independently, from initial research to filing-ready • Ability to live and work full-time in one of the listed eligible U.S. states • Applicants for remote technical positions located in Canada must reside in Ontario (not applicable unless this role is classified as technical) • U.S. work authorization is requested in the application
