• Provide overall leadership in financial matters, budgeting support, systems integration, and reporting • Plan, direct and coordinate all operational accounting functions • Establish and manage the month-end close process • Establish and manage internal and accounting controls • Work with foreign subsidiaries and foreign currency accounting • Consolidate multiple entities with intercompany journal entries • Ensure proper recording of equity activity and reconciliation to the capitalization table • Ensure tax compliance for ISO and NSO stock-based equity transactions • Maintain cash records, reconcile cash accounts, and project future cash forecasts • Monitor subsidiary ledgers for customer activities and ensure timely collection • Ensure timely billing, accurate invoicing, and proper revenue recognition under company policy • Analyze customer contracts and maintain GAAP-compliant revenue recognition processes • Reconcile deferred revenue schedules to the general ledger monthly • Manage annual financial statement audits with external auditors • Oversee transition from modified GAAP to full GAAP basis • Ensure timely regulatory filings, including sales and use, local, and state taxation forms • Support R&D tax credit accounting and preparation materials for tax preparers • Partner with FP&A or assist with actual-versus-budget and business-plan performance analysis • Present financial reporting packages to client engagement management • Liaise with staff, Kranz CFOs, and clients on responsibilities and deliverables • Maintain relationships with auditors, tax providers, banks, investor reporting, and compliance agencies
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance • CPA desired • Minimum 3+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a small start-up company • Proven management and interpersonal skills • Proven experience leading, supporting and developing accounting teams • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures • Proficiency with accounting and transaction systems, including QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, Bill.com, and Expensify • Strong financial reporting and accounting skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to understand priorities and anticipate business issues • Hard-working, dependable self-starter able to work independently and with a team
