📋 Description

• Perform tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping • Determine specimen acceptability according to established testing criteria • Perform routine and complex technical procedures under departmental Standard Operating Procedures • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls • Report accurate and timely test results • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies • Assist with specimen processing as needed • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment • Support daily laboratory operations through FISH analysis, technical review, and workflow coordination • Contribute to team-member training and development while maintaining quality, accuracy, and turnaround-time performance

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy education requirements in lieu of the listed degree • Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures • Experience working in a high-volume laboratory environment • Ability to work independently and within a team environment • Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems • High attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position • Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs • Dedicated, non-shared home office meeting HIPAA compliance requirements • Agreement to have home address added to reports of analyzed or reported cases, as required by CMS • Internet connection with minimum speed of 100 Mb/sec • Ability to work effectively remotely in a fast-paced, multi-site environment • Preferred: experience in FISH analysis, preferably digital • Preferred: 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in cytogenetic/FISH • Preferred: NCA Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG), ASCP, or AMT certification
