📋 Description

• Produce innovative solutions through exploratory data analysis of complex, high-dimensional datasets • Apply statistics, data modeling, data science, and artificial intelligence to identify patterns and opportunities • Design, develop, and evaluate predictive models for single-gene non-invasive Fetal Screening (NIFS) • Generate and test hypotheses from ideation through delivery • Collaborate with R&D scientists to develop new assays, measurement technologies, and clinical tests • Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets using bioinformatics tools and NGS pipelines • Perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses of experimental data from DNA sequencers and molecular instruments • Mine internally produced and publicly available datasets • Provide analysis information to management for decisions on new laboratory developed tests • Develop statistical classifiers and decision trees using genomic read-support and allele-dropout metrics • Apply bioinformatics algorithms and develop novel computational approaches • Investigate molecular-level assay limitations and define clinical reporting boundaries • Develop and optimize complex bioinformatics analysis pipelines • Architect production-grade Nextflow whole-genome sequencing pipelines, including caller selection, annotation strategy, and QC threshold design • Lead bioinformatics proofs of concept for sequencer transitions, including concordance analysis, metric comparison, GIAB benchmarking, and cost-benefit recommendations • Improve pipeline accuracy, cost of goods sold, and turnaround time • Establish quality-control metrics and procedures for production pipelines • Guide result interpretation and reporting standards with clinical and commercial stakeholders • Set QC thresholds for new sample metrics and make production-impacting recommendations

🎯 Requirements

• Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, or computer science • 3 or more years of experience in biotechnology • 5 or more years of experience in programming languages in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, Perl, or Java • 5 or more years of experience with high-throughput sequencing data and bioinformatics tools like BLAST, GATK, or Bowtie • 5 or more years of experience with Linux/Unix environments and high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud platforms • Ability to effectively provide guidance to junior team members • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought • Evidence of relevant research expertise through presentations, software, technical publications, and knowledge of applications • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical learning • Ability to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
