• Perform chromosome analysis, including imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens • Analyze FISH and oncology chromosome specimens for count, structural abnormality, and morphology • Prepare preliminary reports for director interpretation by arranging chromosome pairs into karyotypes • Enter analysis information into computer systems for director interpretation • Check karyotypes according to departmental and group procedures before director review • Verify chromosome placement, orientation, patient demographics, diagnosis matching, test orders, and results • Transfer electronic images remotely to and from satellite reading laboratories • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory and computer equipment • Participate in proficiency testing and maintain required records • Attend required meetings and represent the laboratory professionally • Participate in continuing education activities • Comply with company policies and procedures and perform other duties as required
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology • 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy education requirements • Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures • Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment • Ability to work independently and within a team environment • Computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems • High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position • Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs • Private, HIPAA-compliant workspace • Agreement to include home address in case reporting as required by CMS • Internet speed of at least 100 Mbps • Ability to work remotely in a fast-paced, multi-site environment • Preferred: National Credentialing Agency (NCA) Cytogenetics certification (CLSp-CG) • Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification
