📋 Description

• Provides data analysis and public-health expertise supporting the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), focusing on antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance • Manages end-to-end analytic workflows, including accessing, integrating, cleaning, transforming, and analyzing data from multiple sources using Python and R • Applies statistical and analytic methods and interprets and summarizes findings • Assesses and monitors data quality, identifies anomalies and quality issues, and develops automated, reproducible quality-control processes • Conducts clinical and operational analyses using HL7 FHIR-based data • Evaluates FHIR–EHR mapping, patient-identity matching, encounter reconciliation, and clinical-data standardization using FHIR and other healthcare terminologies • Analyzes client needs and translates them into formal analytic, data, or system requirements • Tests applications, troubleshoots issues, and provides actionable feedback to software developers and quality-assurance staff • Maintains knowledge of current public-health practices and relevant industry developments • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to plan, develop, and implement projects and related materials • Communicates analytic findings, recommendations, and statistical methods to technical and nontechnical audiences • Develops and delivers training, project updates, and presentations related to NHSN antimicrobial-use and resistance work

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or a related field and at least nine years of relevant experience; or master’s degree in one of these fields and at least seven years of relevant experience • Experience using Python or R to import and manipulate data and conduct analyses • Experience managing large datasets, moving and merging files from different platforms, cleaning and aggregating data, and performing quality control • Experience with quality-assurance testing or user-acceptance testing involving healthcare data • Excellent attention to detail and critical-thinking skills • If required by the project, ability to successfully complete and obtain a federal Position of Public Trust Level 5 background investigation, meet all eligibility criteria, and maintain the required clearance throughout employment • Candidate must reside in the United States • Preferred: Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or related field • Preferred: Experience using SAS, R, and Python • Preferred: Experience with antimicrobial use, antimicrobial resistance, and/or data regarding healthcare-associated infections • Preferred: Familiarity with NHSN • Preferred: Experience with real-world analysis and mapping of HL7 FHIR, including normalization and standardization of clinical data • Preferred: Experience analyzing large, complex healthcare datasets, including patient-identity matching across clinical systems, encounter reconciliation, longitudinal record construction, and deduplication
