• Serve as the senior engineering authority for assigned vessels and primary engineering counterpart to the Port Captain. • Lead, supervise, and develop vessel Chief Engineers, Port Engineers, and other engineering personnel. • Establish fleet-wide engineering practices, procedures, standards, and technical guidance. • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and engineering readiness. • Manage fleet Vessel Management System configuration and administration. • Ensure maintenance, engineering, equipment, and compliance records are accurate and standardized. • Represent engineering on the Safety Management System Steering Committee and support SMS governance, risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement. • Monitor engineering readiness, identify risks and deficiencies, and resolve issues affecting vessel availability or mission execution. • Coordinate with Port Captains, vessel Masters, Chief Engineers, maintenance teams, program leadership, technical personnel, subcontractors, and customers. • Provide technical oversight for shipyard periods, dry dockings, emergent repairs, equipment upgrades, and vessel modifications. • Support inspections, surveys, certifications, and regulatory/classification activities. • Review and approve engineering practices, maintenance strategies, procedures, records, and documentation. • Develop standardized processes for inspections, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, casualty response, and repairs. • Provide subject matter expertise for vessel modifications, equipment integration, system upgrades, and configuration changes. • Evaluate fleet engineering performance and develop corrective actions to improve reliability, safety, maintenance effectiveness, and readiness. • Lead lessons-learned activities and fleet-wide knowledge sharing. • Participate in recruitment, interviews, selection, qualification, and onboarding of senior engineering personnel. • Mentor engineering staff and support technical competency, leadership development, and succession planning. • Coordinate parts, spares, materials, technical services, and vendor support with procurement, logistics, warehouse, and subcontract personnel. • Review vendor and subcontractor performance and provide technical input into scopes of work and repairs. • Support casualty response and emergent technical issues. • Provide engineering status, risk, maintenance, and readiness information to leadership and customers. • Drive continuous improvement through standardization, metrics, technical analysis, and effective Vessel Management System use.
• USCG Chief Engineer License with corresponding STCW Certifications • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible maritime engineering experience, including service as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Port Engineer, or equivalent senior marine engineering role. • Experience with administering computerized Vessel Management Systems or maintenance management systems used to manage preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, equipment records, compliance activities, and technical documentation. • Ability to perform in an arduous duty environment • Ability to lift 40lbs • Must be able to communicate effectively • Must be a US Citizen • Ability to obtain and maintain required security, facility, and vessel access credentials. • Experience operating in a joint, Department of Defense, Military Sealift Command, U.S. Navy, or similarly complex maritime environment is highly desirable. • Bachelor’s Degree • Master’s Degree • PMP Certification
