📋 Description

• Manage a collaborative team executing high-voltage electric transmission line design projects • Serve as Lead Engineer and Technical Project Manager for overhead and underground transmission systems from 34.5 kV to 765 kV • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, NEC, and other applicable engineering standards • Direct engineering analyses, PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, foundation design, structure framing, hardware assembly design, plans, specifications, bills of materials, and procurement documents • Lead project planning, engineering, environmental, permitting, and construction management phases • Apply AI, automation, and digital design platforms to streamline grid modernization and improve design efficiency • Manage client relations, staff, proposals, scope creation and change, project execution, and new business capture • Set expectations, goals, and vision; manage direct-report performance; coach, mentor, and delegate work • Direct multiple design teams across projects and programs for multiple clients • Train, coach, and develop Leidos engineering talent • Approve timesheets and run annual performance reviews • Participate in the Transmission Line Section leadership team • Create RFP, RFI, and RFQ responses and define scopes of work • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and automation • Delegate tasks, forecast workloads, and support recruiting for growth • Drive quality control for execution-team deliverables • Liaise with clients to support business development and long-term relationships • Manage portfolio health, scope, schedules, and budgets through Project Managers • Support schedule compliance with assigned Lead Engineers

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or preferred Mechanical Engineering, with 8+ years of relevant experience designing high-voltage electric utility transmission systems • Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE • Engineer In Training (EIT) certification • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment • Outstanding communication skills for serving as primary client contact • Business acumen and record of meeting project performance metrics • Ability and passion to develop staff through mentoring • Working onsite in a Leidos or client office is possible; periodic travel may be required • 2+ years of supervising staff preferred • M.S. degree in Structural Engineering favorable • Experience with TOWER favorable • P.E. certification or ability to achieve P.E. certification in 6 months favorable • Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and GIS is a plus
