📋 Description

• Define, design, and coordinate technical aspects of HV/EHV substation protection and control • Oversee technical plant integration and optimization at project level while considering safety, quality, schedule, and cost • Serve as project engineer for small- to medium-sized, secondary-engineering-focused projects when identified • Design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, industrial, and BESS applications • Lead local or remote design teams developing panel/interconnect wiring, panel layouts, and elevations • Evaluate IED interoperability, control features, and communications/protocols, integrating SCADA, cybersecurity, and telecom needs • Apply IEC 61850 process and system bus architecture in substations • Coordinate with SCADA, substation physical, and control design engineers on system integration • Work with the team to meet project specifications, cost, and schedule objectives • Interface with internal and external engineering, design, project management, sourcing, and support teams • Review load flow, fault, relay coordination, and transient studies • Train end users on integrated protection and control systems • Lead or support factory acceptance testing and site testing/commissioning • Develop outage, cut-over, and testing procedures • Define processes, perform root cause analyses and corrective actions, and validate process control • Support quality initiatives including ISO9002 • Develop proposals, technical specifications, design-hour/material estimates, vendor quotation sourcing, clarifications, exceptions, technical responses, and technical validation

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar degree from an accredited university • Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering • Minimum 3 years’ experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally, for meetings and on-site commissioning tests • Comply with company travel and tax policies • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States • P.E. License or EIT with willingness to pursue and acquire P.E. certification, or P.Eng. or willingness to acquire certification • Extensive experience in protective relaying coordination and practices • Understanding of circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, harmonic filters, HVDC, and FACTS systems • Fluent in English • Presentation skills and ability to communicate complex messages succinctly • Experience in technical problem solving • Mastery of the secondary engineering discipline, including processes, tools, and technical aspects • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, judgment, decision-making, and passion for the functional role
