📋 Description

• Report to the Insurance and Billing Manager • Help ABA learner families navigate eligibility, pre-authorizations, and government-sponsored and private insurance plans • Maintain learner and therapist documentation required by insurance carriers • Submit documentation to obtain or renew authorizations through the third-party billing company • Enter or review billing and insurance submissions for the third-party billing company • Provide guidance to learner families on plan eligibility requirements and resolve eligibility and billing issues • Act as trusted adviser and main contact for learner families and clinicians on insurance-related inquiries • Research and resolve insurance-related issues • Assist with billing inquiries and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) • Confirm deductibles and forecast out-of-pocket expenses; help families arrange payment plans • File appeals on authorization denials • Handle learner pre-authorizations and documentation requirements • Verify learner eligibility and benefits through online payor portals and the third-party billing organization • Coordinate grant, hardship waiver, and Medicaid eligibility paperwork • Review daily and weekly billing for accuracy and submit claims within required timelines • Collaborate with clinical staff and family outreach to determine facility availability and openings • Communicate with internal and external parties by email and phone • Support recurring internal and external record audits • Apply continuous improvement to develop new skills during changing initiatives • Protect confidential information and comply with HIPAA, PHI, security, and confidentiality policies

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience • A minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance verifications, pre-authorizations, and billing in a clinic or behavioral health setting • Experience resolving high level/sensitive customer service issues related to authorization, billing, and payment of behavioral health services • Analytical skills to receive, assemble and report on data records • Extremely attentive to details • High level of self-motivation and energy, and ability to work with minimal supervision • High organizational and time management skills • Highly developed oral and written communication skills • Ability to foster working relationships with leadership, clinical team, and other points of contact • Ability to support multiple team members and projects simultaneously and prioritize in a fast-paced environment • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Adobe, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams • Ability to work as part of a team with excellent interpersonal skills • Confidentiality and trustworthiness, including compliance with HIPAA, PHI, and patient communications • Adherence to company and department policies regarding security, compliance, HIPAA, and confidentiality
