📋 Description

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Medical Underwriting team, including daily inventory planning and management • Oversee evaluation of medical underwriting requirements and risk selection for employees covered under group policies • Conduct complex case reviews and second sign-offs, determining approval or rejection • Monitor operational performance, establish priorities, communicate goals, and hold the team accountable • Partner with senior leadership on organizational vision and strategic direction • Create and implement strategic plans to improve efficiency, capabilities, and scalability • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging medical underwriting practices and share trends with the team • Administer underwriting rules and guidelines, application quality audits, and applicable laws and regulations • Provide training, development opportunities, stretch assignments, and constructive feedback • Lead organizational and enterprise initiatives, change management, and employee engagement • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain high-performing employees • Build organizational capabilities for current and future business needs • Serve as a resource to team members and internal and external stakeholders • Build relationships with key partners, including distribution and project management teams • Incorporate Quality Assurance and Training recommendations into development and performance measurement • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, guidelines, and company policies • Remain current on professional and industry trends • Identify and recommend improvements and develop new skills, procedures, and processes • Perform other duties as required

🎯 Requirements

• Life and disability insurance underwriting expertise • Medical Underwriting expertise • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; 4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's • 5+ Years of risk management experience with substantial background in medical underwriting group coverages • 2+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience • FALU (Fellow Academy of Life Underwriting) preferred • FLMI (Fellow Life Management Institute) preferred • Group/employer insurance experience preferred
