Lines for Life is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide and promoting mental wellness. It operates 24/7 crisis lines (including alcohol & drug helplines, a military helpline, Senior Loneliness Line, and YouthLine) staffed by trained volunteers and professionals, offers prevention education and training for schools and communities, and engages in public policy and advocacy to reduce stigma and improve systems of care. Lines for Life provides targeted support for youth, veterans, people in recovery, and underserved communities while working locally and nationally to influence policies related to mental health and substance use.

📋 Description

• Lead YouthLine training and education efforts throughout Hawaii • Facilitate evidence-based suicide prevention trainings, including ASIST, safeTALK, QPR, and other approved curricula • Deliver YouthLine educational presentations and youth mental health programming to schools, community organizations, and other audiences • Train YouthLine volunteers on Maui and/or neighboring islands • Adapt training content and facilitation approaches for diverse participants and communities • Maintain instructor certifications and fidelity to evidence-based training models • Serve as a subject matter resource on youth mental health, suicide prevention, help-seeking behaviors, and YouthLine services • Coordinate statewide training schedules, registrations, materials, logistics, calendars, and records • Track attendance, completion, certifications, and related data • Collect and analyze evaluations and participant feedback for quality improvement • Collaborate with the YouthLine Portland team for reporting • Coordinate presenters and training resources • Update training content and implement systems improvements • Build relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other Hawaii stakeholders • Promote training opportunities, YouthLine services, and local mental health resources • Represent YouthLine at meetings, conferences, community events, and collaborative initiatives • Support the implementation, growth, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation of YouthLine’s Near Peer programming • Provide guidance and resources to Near Peer participants and partner organizations • Maintain program documentation and reporting records • Monitor participation, outcomes, and performance measures • Prepare reports and program updates for leadership and funders • Support grant-related data collection and reporting • Participate in program and team meetings and collaborative planning • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Experience facilitating trainings, workshops, presentations, or educational programming • Experience coordinating projects, trainings, events, or other complex activities involving multiple stakeholders • Strong public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based systems • Ability to remain calm and professional while managing changing priorities and challenging situations • Ability to travel throughout Hawaii, including occasional evening, weekend, and overnight travel as needed • All employees must be approved to work by the Oregon Department of Human Services’ Background Check Unit • Preferred: experience working with youth, schools, youth-serving organizations, or behavioral health programs • Preferred: experience in suicide prevention, crisis intervention, mental health promotion, or related fields • Preferred: certification or experience facilitating evidence-based trainings such as ASIST, safeTALK, QPR, Youth Mental Health First Aid, or similar programs • Preferred: experience providing coaching or consultation to community partners • Preferred: experience supporting statewide initiatives and community engagement activities • Preferred: knowledge of Hawaii communities, cultures, and youth-serving systems • Preferred: experience working with diverse, underserved, rural, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, or historically marginalized communities
