📋 Description

• Lead Live Oak Bank’s data management, data quality, data governance, and data stewardship programs • Build relationships with business leaders and align the data management agenda with strategic direction • Resolve complex data issues and identify process improvements that increase data quality at the source • Partner with the Chief Data & Analytics Officer and Data & Analytics leadership on investment priorities • Lead the data quality program, expand monitoring coverage, reduce open exceptions, and build trust in data • Own metadata management, including the business glossary, classification, and lineage • Advance the semantic layer and establish shared data language across business and technical teams • Prepare data foundations for AI and agentic systems • Manage the relationship with Monte Carlo, Live Oak’s data quality monitoring platform • Lead the Data Stewardship program, support stewards across business domains, and grow the stewardship community • Embed data quality checks and rules into daily business operations • Mature data governance policies, standards, and processes as the bank and regulatory expectations evolve • Represent data governance in bank-wide vendor management, vendor reviews, and third-party risk processes • Partner with Information Security, Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, and external regulators when relevant • Lead, coach, and develop the data management, data quality, and data governance team

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in data management, data quality, data governance, or related fields • 3+ years leading teams • Strong business partnership experience, translating business strategy and operational needs into data outcomes • Hands-on experience with data quality practices, tooling, and operational quality improvement • Experience leading a data stewardship or similar cross-functional data community • Experience designing and running data governance programs proportionate to risk and regulatory environments • Working knowledge of Databricks, Unity Catalog, dbt, Fivetran, and cloud data warehouses • Strong communication across business SMEs, Data Stewards, technical partners, and regulators • Comfort with a player-coach model • Preferred: AI-related data governance experience • Preferred: Banking or regulated financial services experience • Preferred: Data retention program experience • Preferred: Monte Carlo, Bigeye, Anomalo, or similar data quality monitoring tools • Preferred: Data catalog tools such as Unity Catalog, Alation, Atlan, or Collibra and metadata management approaches • Preferred: Exposure to model risk management or SR 11-7 • Preferred: Exposure to third-party risk management processes in financial services • Preferred: Background supporting Data Science or ML teams
