📋 Description

• Design, build and operate real-time systems powering conversational AI experiences • Set technical direction across complex backend and distributed systems • Solve streaming audio, concurrency, interruption handling, asynchronous workflow and low-latency communication problems • Build production systems combining LLMs, deterministic software, tool calling and human-in-the-loop workflows • Design resilience against failures across inference providers, infrastructure and network dependencies • Improve testing, evaluation, tracing and monitoring for conventional software and AI components • Contribute to cloud architecture, deployment, observability, incident response and performance optimization • Deploy coding agents and AI development tools while maintaining testing, review, maintainability and human judgment standards • Guide architecture and design decisions, conduct reviews and mentor less experienced engineers • Work with product, operations and engineering leadership to translate customer and operational requirements into durable systems • Participate in customer, partner and stakeholder conversations requiring deep technical understanding

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of production software engineering experience • Experience designing, shipping and operating complex backend, distributed or real-time systems • Experience integrating LLMs, agentic systems or other AI capabilities into production software • Ability to reason about concurrency, asynchronous systems, latency, failure modes and multi-dependency systems • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including tests, observability, clean abstractions, security and maintainability • Experience using AI development tools while retaining engineering judgment • Ability to contribute across architecture and implementation • Comfort working with ambiguous product and operational problems • Effective communication with engineers, product and operational stakeholders • Mentoring ability • Motivation to build production-grade AI systems • Bonus: production voice-AI systems experience, particularly LiveKit, Pipecat or equivalent • Bonus: speech-to-text, text-to-speech, voice-activity detection, endpointing, interruption handling, diarization, noise filtering or real-time audio streaming • Bonus: telephony infrastructure, including PSTN, SIP trunking, PBX systems or call routing • Bonus: WebRTC, WebSockets, RTP/SRTP or other real-time media protocols • Bonus: highly concurrent or fault-tolerant services using Elixir, Erlang, Go, Rust or similar • Bonus: evaluation frameworks, prompt test harnesses or production observability for LLM or agentic systems • Bonus: failover between multiple infrastructure or AI providers • Bonus: experience in public safety, healthcare, defence, financial infrastructure or other high-stakes domains
