📋 Description

• Handle a variety of cases, including defense of general liability, bodily injury, and professional liability • Work under the supervision of a partner • Bill a minimum amount of time (the posting text does not specify the number) • Draft, review, and respond to petitions and complaints, motions, and written discovery • Attend hearings and client meetings when requested • Prepare for and attend depositions • Assist with preparation for mediations and trials • Work with the Jersey City office • Provide defense litigation services within Lydecker’s national litigation practice

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of experience stated in the position overview; minimum of 3 years of civil defense litigation experience required • Must be located in Florida • Must be admitted to practice in Florida • Florida bar license in good standing required • Minimum of JD from an ABA-approved law school • Experience preferably in general liability, bodily injury, property and casualty, or insurance defense litigation • Experience handling up to 15 cases at once • Experience attending and defending depositions and taking depositions • Experience appearing in court • Experience drafting motions and discovery • Mediation and trial experience is a plus but not required • Basic knowledge of computer operation, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software • Microsoft products preferred • Ability to type and operate office equipment • Self-motivated and able to work independently • Strong client communication skills • Clear and persuasive oral communication; ability to listen, obtain clarification, respond to questions, and participate in meetings • Clear and informative written communication; editing for spelling and grammar; ability to vary writing style, present numerical data effectively, and interpret written information • Ability to keep client and firm information confidential and follow ethical rules applicable to lawyers
