📋 Description

• Identify, analyze, and maintain data on cancer patients’ history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status, and survival outcomes • Abstract medical records according to national cancer registry standards • Prepare statistical reports and analyses on incidence, treatment outcomes, mortality, demographic trends, and cancer program quality metrics • Collect, validate, and report data for protocol studies, patient care evaluations, quality improvement initiatives, committee activities, and multidisciplinary cancer conferences • Assist clinical departments with quality audits, data validation, reporting requests, and registry initiatives • Submit required reports to the National Cancer Database, State Cancer Registry, and ACoS Commission on Cancer • Serve as a subject matter resource on cancer registry standards, department policies, reporting requirements, and oncology data best practices • Maintain data integrity, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance • Support continuous improvement across the cancer program • Participate in occasional in-person team meetings, professional development opportunities, and collaborative events throughout the year

🎯 Requirements

• Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) is required • Three to five years of experience in oncology data abstraction, cancer registry, health information management, or a related healthcare data role preferred • Experience with NeuralFrame by KACI and EMRs including SCM, Touchworks, Aria, Meditech, EPIC, and HealthInfoNet preferred • Strong knowledge of oncology terminology, cancer staging methodologies, treatment modalities, and national cancer registry standards • Experience submitting data to state and national cancer registries • Experience with American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer and National Cancer Database (NCDB) reporting requirements • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail • Commitment to data accuracy • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and reporting deadlines • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to collaborate effectively across clinical and administrative teams
