📋 Description

• Lead, manage, mentor, and grow a team of product engineers • Run planning, set product engineering strategy, and keep delivery predictable • Define how work is decomposed into agent-runnable tasks, including kickoff prompts, acceptance criteria, UAT checkpoints, and completion reports • Establish human decision points for PR approval and merge, commit sign-off, and user acceptance testing • Design, build, and maintain product features using AI-native engineering • Own database architecture and integrations connecting the product to schools • Manage SIS rostering pipelines using OneRoster, Clever, and ClassLink • Set testing standards, CI checks, code review discipline, and security practices for a platform serving a million students annually • Track and improve where AI-assisted development helps or hurts the team

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading engineers as a team lead or engineering manager while remaining hands-on • Strong full-stack depth with React and TypeScript in production, plus solid back-end experience with Node.js or similar • Real experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, IAM, or comparable services) • Experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query performance, and migrations • Working fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot on real production work • Ability to review large volumes of human- or machine-written code quickly and identify important issues • Clear written communication for task specifications and prompts • Judgment, pragmatism, and steady ownership under ambiguity • Preferred: Experience with education technology, SIS/rostering integrations (OneRoster, Clever, ClassLink), LMS ecosystems, or student data privacy (FERPA, COPPA) • Preferred: Experience building or evaluating LLM-powered product features, including prompt design, evals, and guardrails • Preferred: Experience scaling engineering process at a growing company
