📋 Description

• Submit claims, process follow-up on payer appeals, and communicate with the manager on claim status • Ensure claims are coded correctly according to current CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines • Follow up on accounts receivable and contact insurance carriers to maximize payment and identify issues or changes • Perform secondary billing and patient invoicing with follow-up • Process online adjustments to insurance claims • Comply with insurance carrier audit requests in a timely manner • Review medical records and resubmit claims with appropriate documentation when necessary, while adhering to confidentiality requirements • Process corrections on accounts and active claims by error correcting or voiding transactions; post appropriate adjustments • Research credit balances and process insurance refunds or adjustments • Keep current with insurance billing requirements and new billing guidelines • Participate in departmental and organizational process improvement initiatives • Assist providers and staff with insurance and billing inquiries by phone and email • Work on special accounts-receivable cleanup projects as requested • Perform other tasks as requested

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 3+ years of billing experience, required • Knowledge of Behavioral Health and ABA medical billing, medical codes and practices, required • Familiarity with medical insurance payors including Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, FFS, TPAs, PPO and IPAs, required • Computer experience, including practice management software; familiarity with CentralReach is a huge plus • Reliable internet, required • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions • Strong sense of urgency; organized and energetic team player able to work independently and in a team environment • Punctual, dependable, adaptable and responsible; able to learn tasks quickly; self-starter • Excellent customer service skills • Strong desire to meet the needs of families • Associate degree and/or Medical Billing Certification (AHIMA, AAPC) preferred • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Therapy billing codes and practices preferred • Willingness to work regular PST hours
