📋 Description

• Build out the accounting function, including processes, controls, close calendar, and structure • Own the monthly close end to end and deliver accurate results on time • Oversee and review bookkeepers’ journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, customer collections, and aging • Maintain data integrity between Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, retail portals, and the general ledger • Develop bottom-up inventory accounting across many SKUs, including landed cost, cost layers, and inventory roll-forward • Own the chart of accounts and accounting policies • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules and support audit/review readiness • Own US multi-state sales tax compliance, including nexus monitoring, registrations, and filings • Reconcile marketplace facilitator tax and handle notices and discrepancies • Manage sales tax automation tooling and coordinate with advisors • Manage Canadian GST/HST and European EU VAT compliance during international expansion • Support partnership income tax processes, including K-1s, applicable form filings, supporting schedules, and partner capital account data • Maintain accurate, timely, and audit-ready partner-level tax reporting • Support FP&A, budgets, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis • Own daily and weekly cash flow reporting

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience • Hands-on ownership of a monthly close • Experience overseeing or reviewing bookkeepers or junior staff • Solid US GAAP foundation • US multi-state sales tax compliance experience, including nexus, registrations, filings, and marketplace facilitator reconciliation • Hands-on accounts payable and accounts receivable experience, including collections and aging management • Some US partnership income tax experience, including K-1s and applicable form filings • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks; Online preferred • Comfort working with Shopify, Amazon, and TikTok Shop data and reconciling platform and settlement data to the books • Active use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude in day-to-day accounting work, with judgment to verify outputs • Strong written communication • CPA or equivalent certification preferred • Consumer products, home goods, or e-commerce/retail industry experience preferred • Familiarity with Avalara or TaxJar preferred • Experience overseeing bookkeeping or outsourced accounting partners preferred • BI and data tooling such as Power BI, SQL, and advanced Excel preferred • Exposure to international VAT/GST and multi-currency preferred • Working knowledge of building forecasts and budgets preferred • Comfort working in a lean, fast-moving environment preferred
