📋 Description

• Educate a small classroom of students in a self-contained setting • Provide five hours of virtual direct instruction per day, plus flexible time for lesson planning, grading, and IEP work • Provide a differentiated learning environment • Deliver project-based learning instruction in a virtual setting • Collaborate with curriculum, clinical, administrative, teaching, and support staff • Personalize learning for students • Provide a social-emotional learning environment • Teach approximately 10 students with paraprofessional support • Work Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., following a 10-month school calendar

🎯 Requirements

• REQUIRED: Illinois PEL with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I), i.e. Special Education Teacher Certification, or the ability to obtain the Illinois PEL through out-of-state license reciprocity • Proficiency with video-conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) • Flexibility to teach multiple grade levels as student populations change • Ability to work with youth with emotional/behavioral/cognitive, and academic difficulties • Ability to create/design digital content for engaging online lessons • Strong classroom-management techniques adapted for virtual settings • Skilled in differentiating instruction for diverse learners • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and build relationships across all levels and with diverse personalities • Ability to teach using Digital Curriculum & Assessment tools • Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues, manage digital file storage, navigate browser extensions, and perform basic computer troubleshooting • Familiarity with assistive technology tools (text-to-speech, speech-to-text, screen readers, AAC apps, accessibility settings) • Strong organizational skills and precise documentation with ability to maintain accurate records in a virtual environment
