📋 Description

• Build and manage highly motivated, high-performing software engineering teams • Hire, mentor, and motivate staff while fostering continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence • Drive budgeting and planning for the area of responsibility • Collaborate with product managers to estimate effort, prioritize the roadmap, plan, and deliver roadmap items • Translate product requirements into robust, modular, configurable, reusable, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable designs • Lead teams hands-on to deliver new or improved features and remove implementation impediments • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery • Review product requirements, designs, and code for quality and adherence to best practices • Ensure application systems are secure, compliant, performant, and current • Monitor and report key performance metrics and make data-driven operational decisions • Identify system and process improvements • Drive new features, large refactors, migrations, and process changes • Leverage CI/CD and process optimization to improve time to market • Track industry trends and drive adoption of best practices • Develop and drive Mercury’s application-system technical vision, strategy, and innovation • Represent the engineering organization and its vision to executive leadership

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or other related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience • 10+ years of software engineering experience • 7+ years of experience leading and managing staff • 2+ years of experience managing large teams • Proficient in building and managing multiple small/medium-sized software engineering teams • Proficient in hiring and developing next-level managers and leaders • Proficient in project management tasks including estimating, planning, executing, tracking, and reporting progress • Proficient in leading engineering teams across mobile, web, backend, data, and other technology stacks • Experience designing and implementing complex, high-volume distributed application systems • Proficient with APIs, messaging, data streaming, workflow, integration frameworks, microservices, containers, and cloud computing • Experience leveraging DevSecOps • Experience using analytics data and experimentation to improve systems • Experience driving digital transformation, omni-channel implementation, legacy migration, cloud transformation, modernization, product and services development, and AI/ML adoption • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders • Ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders • Proficient in operational excellence and best practices focused on quality, performance, scalability, maintainability, and observability • Experience driving technical strategy, vision, and innovation • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science • Preferred: Experience leading large-scale Claims technology organizations through growth, modernization, and complex transformation initiatives • Preferred: Deep expertise in Guidewire, Claims Center, and the insurance domain • Preferred: Experience defining and executing Claims technology strategy and cloud migrations • Preferred: Experience building software for P&C Insurance Business
