📋 Description

• Assist team members with understanding and demonstrating skills needed to perform underwriting job duties • Design, build and facilitate an engaging learning and development strategy and program for new and existing Underwriting employees • Create compelling, current and state-of-the-art courses and training materials • Conduct live instructor-led courses for new and existing Underwriting employees • Prepare and organize course outlines, materials and teaching aids • Review and revise training content, procedures, tools and manuals • Keep abreast of emerging training techniques and developments within insurance • Consult with business leaders and subject matter experts to assess training needs and learning objectives and recommend solutions • Apply adult learning principles, instructional design theory, learning tools, industry resources, and measurement and evaluation methods • Conduct training classes ranging from one day to several weeks on underwriting philosophy and systems use • Define instructional objectives and select delivery methods for adult learning styles • Build interactive learning experiences using case studies, stories, small group activities and reinforcement strategies • Measure and analyze trainee progress and performance through interaction and work-product audits • Communicate observations to leadership and advocate for employees’ training and informational needs • Develop online training materials, courses and tools using e-learning and other software programs • Maintain regular attendance on a full-time schedule of at least 8 hours and 40 hours per week • Perform other assigned functions

🎯 Requirements

• Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) • At least 4 years of underwriting experience or 2 years as a Senior Underwriter, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is desired • Detailed knowledge of insurance principles, terminology, products and practices • Thorough knowledge of established Company and assigned department policies and procedures • Familiarity with various training methods including self-study, group instruction, lecture format, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role-play and computer-based learning • Experience in developing training content and delivering web-based training programs • Demonstrated facilitation skills in small and large group settings • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a keen eye for detail • Ability to handle multiple projects or assignments and work within a given timeline • Excellent organizational skills and initiative to prioritize training needs and curriculum • Ability to instill program objectives, goals and performance standards and evaluate employee progress and performance • Ability to analyze and interpret course data and feedback and select and develop effective training courses and materials • Demonstrated analytical skills and passion for new technologies • Creative and innovative problem solving and formulation of solutions • Self-starter with ability to work independently • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
