📋 Description

• Code procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems in accordance with Official Coding Guidelines, CMS guidelines, payer rules and policies, and Mosaic compliance standards • Participate in online educational sessions such as workshops, conferences, and/or in-services and maintain participation records • Communicate with providers and query them to ensure documentation provides the highest level of specificity • Work with Patient Financial Services, Revenue Integrity, or other departments to verify and modify charges and coding for accurate supporting documentation, payer rules, and correct coding • Ensure accuracy of State HIDI data and other claims by responding to edits • Perform specialty care claims rejections or denials as needed • Assist in training newly hired coders as needed • Perform other assigned duties

🎯 Requirements

• Reside in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, or Virginia for remote employment • High school diploma required • Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology required • Coding education required • 2 years of coding experience required • 3 years of coding experience may substitute for coding education • Must hold upon hire one of: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) • Must pass the Epic Healthcare Assessment within 5 business days of hire • Detailed knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, and coding guidelines • Ability to input and retrieve data, speak clearly, use precise hand/eye coordination, perform fine motor tasks, and write well • Ability to interpret chart data and encoder instructions, understand physician documentation, and concentrate for long periods • Ability to visualize and interpret patient records • Ability to work with interruptions and maintain flexibility in hours and workflow • Regular ability to sit, reach, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
