📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, develop, and oversee the accounting and payroll team • Establish priorities, coordination, and shared accountability across accounting and payroll operations • Support professional development, cross-training, and operational continuity • Promote continuous learning, process improvement, technology adoption, and innovation • Partner across departments to integrate accounting, payroll, and financial considerations into planning and decision-making • Provide leaders and teams with guidance, tools, resources, coaching, training, and responsive support • Create and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation • Provide strategic oversight of accounting and payroll functions • Prepare quarterly organizational financial statements and present them to senior leadership and the Board of Directors • Provide financial forecasts and variance analyses • Collaborate with department leads on the annual budget • Oversee accounting operations, general ledger integrity, internal controls, accounts receivable, accounts payable, allocations, and journal entries • Oversee payroll processing, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and coordination among payroll, HR, and accounting • Review incoming awards, banking activity, and reconciliations • Manage cash flow and liquidity, review cash disbursements, and perform fund releases • Administer loan funds and prepare payment requests, transfers, schedules, and accounting entries • Lead the annual external audit and tax return preparation • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions • Establish internal control policies and procedures • Develop procedures and cross-training for business continuity • Establish and maintain efficient, accurate, and scalable accounting systems and processes • Leverage technology to improve workflows, data accuracy, and automation • Evaluate and implement improvements to accounting procedures, tools, and reporting processes • Ensure collaboration across accounting, payroll, HR, program finance, and grant stewardship functions

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as an accounting director, controller, or similar role at a nonprofit organization • In-depth knowledge of U.S. nonprofit accounting principles, payroll operations, internal controls, policies, and best practices • Demonstrated ability to lead and strengthen accounting operations within a complex organization • Proven track record of developing and strengthening accounting systems, policies, and practices • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive team environment • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to communicate complex accounting and financial information clearly • Exceptional ability to facilitate crucial conversations with professionalism and care • Strong analytical and decision-making skills • Ability to assess financial and operational risks and navigate ambiguity • Demonstrated ability to design, improve, and oversee accounting systems, workflows, and operational processes • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities • Commitment to Multiplier’s mission and values • CPA designation is a plus • Spanish language skills are a plus
